Our Projects

Ruksevana has taken a leadership role in advancing the establishment of a Sri Lankan Community Centre in the Greater Toronto Area. To guide this vision, we have formed a dedicated project committee representing a diverse range of community members. The committee meets weekly to review progress, coordinate responsibilities, and maintain steady momentum. As part of our preparation, we are gathering all necessary application forms, eligibility criteria, and guidelines required for government submissions. We are also actively researching funding opportunities to support both the development and long‑term sustainability of the centre. A key focus of our work involves connecting with other Sri Lankan organizations across the GTA to build collaboration and unity. These conversations help ensure that the centre reflects the needs and aspirations of all Sri Lankan ethnic groups. To increase awareness, we have launched digital outreach efforts and community engagement activities. Our promotional work includes:

• Posting updates and announcements on Facebook
• Sharing information through word‑of‑mouth networks
• Collecting organizational contacts for future collaboration
• Preparing materials for government and community partners

These initiatives reflect our commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and long‑term community development.
